Jungmun Saekdal Beach is a unique beach in the Jungmun tourism complex known for its unusual multi-colored sand — a natural mix of black volcanic, white shell, red, and gray grains created by the erosion of surrounding volcanic rocks. The beach also attracts surfers with reliable waves.
The beach's distinctive sand colors result from erosion of the surrounding volcanic basalt (black), limestone (white), and iron-rich minerals (red). The Jungmun area was developed as Jeju's main tourism complex in the 1970s, but the beach itself has been a natural landmark for centuries.
