The Kinjo Stone-Paved Road (金城町石畳道) is a remarkably well-preserved 300-meter limestone path descending from the south side of Shuri Castle. Lined with old stone walls and giant akagi trees, it feels like a walk through the Ryukyu Kingdom era.
The stone road was part of the royal thoroughfare connecting Shuri Castle to the southern port of Naha during the Ryukyu Kingdom era. Much of the original road was destroyed in the Battle of Okinawa, but this 300-meter section survived and was designated a national historic site.
