Cape Manzamo (万座毛) is a dramatic coral limestone cliff on Okinawa's west coast, famous for its elephant-trunk-shaped rock formation and sweeping views of the East China Sea. The name means 'a grassland big enough for ten thousand people to sit.'
The cape's name originates from Ryukyuan King Shō Kei, who reportedly exclaimed that the vast grassland atop the cliff could seat ten thousand people. A new visitor center with a circular observation deck and gift shop opened in 2020, improving access while protecting the fragile coral cliff environment.
