Nokonoshima Island Park occupies a hillside on Nokonoshima, a small island in Hakata Bay reached by a short ferry ride from Meinohama port. The park is famous for its seasonal flower fields — rapeseed, cosmos, hydrangea, and sunflowers — offering panoramic views back toward the Fukuoka skyline.
Nokonoshima has been inhabited since ancient times, and the island park was established in the 1960s as a recreational destination for Fukuoka residents. The flower gardens were gradually expanded over the decades. The island retains a slow rural atmosphere despite being just 10 minutes by ferry from the mainland.
