Princep Ghat is a riverside promenade along the Hooghly River, featuring a Palladian-style monument erected in 1843 in memory of Anglo-Indian scholar James Princep. It offers scenic waterfront views and a relaxed atmosphere.

History

Named after James Princep, the Orientalist who deciphered the Brahmi and Kharosthi scripts, the memorial was constructed in 1843. The ghat was extensively renovated in the 2010s and is now a popular evening leisure spot.
