Sankey Tank (Gandhinagar Lake) is a picturesque man-made reservoir in northern Bengaluru built during the British era. Surrounded by a well-maintained walking track and park, it is a beloved morning exercise spot and birdwatcher's haven.
Built in 1882 by Colonel Richard Hieram Sankey, the Chief Engineer of Mysore State, the tank was designed to supply drinking water to the British cantonment. After piped water rendered it obsolete for supply, it was converted into a public park.
