Pinus Pengger is a pine-forested hilltop south of Yogyakarta that has become one of the area's most popular viewpoints, particularly at dusk when the city lights begin to twinkle below. Creative wooden photo platforms shaped like hands, stars, and houses are positioned among the trees.
The government-planted pine forest at Pengger was originally intended for reforestation and timber. In the mid-2010s, local community groups began developing it as a nature tourism destination, constructing creative photo platforms and viewpoints that quickly went viral on social media.
