Overview
The Small Wild Goose Pagoda (Xiaoyanta) is a 43-metre brick tower dating to 707 CE, set within the Xi'an Museum complex. Less crowded than the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
Highlights
- Earthquake scars: Visible cracks from a 1556 earthquake that legendarily separated and rejoined the pagoda.
- Morning bell ceremony: Daily bell-ringing at 09:00.
- Jianfu Temple gardens: Peaceful grounds with ancient trees and a lotus pond.
History
Built under Emperor Zhongzong to store sutras brought by monk Yijing. Originally 15 storeys, earthquakes reduced it to 13. Restored and reopened in 2007.

- Free entry: Reservation required; ¥30 fee to climb the pagoda.
- Combined visit: Pairs with Xi'an Museum next door.
