Overview
Famen Temple, 120 km west of Xi'an, houses a genuine finger-bone relic of the Buddha, sealed underground for over 1,000 years before its 1987 discovery.

History
Founded in the Eastern Han dynasty (2nd century CE). The crypt was sealed during the Tang and rediscovered when the pagoda collapsed in 1981.
