Shenzhen Bay Park

Overview

Shenzhen Bay Park is a 13-kilometre coastal strip park stretching along the shoreline of Shenzhen Bay, offering uninterrupted views across the water to Hong Kong's New Territories. It is one of the city's most popular outdoor spaces for jogging, cycling, and watching migratory birds.

Highlights

• Sunset Views: The western sections offer some of the best sunset viewing in Shenzhen, with the Shenzhen Bay Bridge framing the horizon.
• Bird Watching: The mangrove sections attract egrets, herons, and migratory shorebirds, especially from November to March.
• Cycling Path: A dedicated cycling lane runs the full length of the park.

History

The park was developed as part of a major waterfront reclamation and ecological restoration project completed in phases between 2011 and 2014. It was designed to create a continuous green corridor connecting Nanshan to Futian along the bay.

Visitor Tips

• Rent a Bike: Shared bikes are available throughout; cycling the full length takes about 40 minutes.
• Avoid Weekends: very crowded on weekends and holidays.
• Duration: 1–2 hours.
