Overview

OCAT Shenzhen is a contemporary art centre in the OCT area that focuses on experimental and avant-garde Chinese art. Part of the broader OCAT network of museums, it occupies a converted industrial building and hosts exhibitions that push boundaries.

History

OCAT (OCT Contemporary Art Terminal) was established in 2005 under the direction of Huang Zhuan, a prominent Chinese art critic. It was created to provide a non-commercial platform for Chinese contemporary art beyond the gallery system. The Shenzhen branch remains the flagship of the OCAT network.
