The He Xiangning Art Museum is China's first national-level art museum named after a woman, dedicated to the painter and political figure He Xiangning (1878–1972). Located in the OCT area of Nanshan, it houses her ink-wash paintings alongside contemporary Chinese art exhibitions.
The museum opened in 1997 and was the first national art museum established outside Beijing. He Xiangning was a revolutionary, feminist, and artist who served as a leader in the early Republic of China. Her family donated her art collection to the state, and this purpose-built museum was created to house it.
