The Coloane Trail network covers the forested hills of Coloane island, Macau's greenest area. The main trail climbs to Alto de Coloane (170 m), the territory's highest point, through eucalyptus, pine, and fern-covered slopes with views over the South China Sea.
Coloane's hills were heavily reforested in the 1960s and 1970s after colonial-era wood harvesting left the slopes bare. The trail system was formalised by the Macau government in the 1990s as part of an eco-tourism initiative. Today the trails are well-signposted and maintained.
