Olympic Forest Park

Overview

Olympic Forest Park is Beijing's largest public park at 680 hectares, built as the green lung of the 2008 Olympic Games complex. Its naturalistic landscape of lakes, wetlands, and forested hills offers a welcome escape from the city.

History

Designed by Sasaki Associates as the centerpiece of the 2008 Olympic Green, the park was built on former farmland and industrial sites. It opened to the public in 2008 and quickly became one of Beijing's most popular outdoor spaces.

Visitor Tips

• Cycling: Rent a bicycle at the south entrance for the most enjoyable way to explore the vast grounds.
• Two Sections: The south park is more developed with facilities; the quieter north park feels wilder and more natural.
• Duration: 2–3 hours.
