Overview
The Gabba (formally Brisbane Cricket Ground) is a 42,000-seat stadium in Woolloongabba, home to Queensland cricket and the Brisbane Lions AFL team. It is set to be the centrepiece venue for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, with a planned redevelopment to expand capacity.
Highlights
- Test cricket: The Gabba hosts at least one international Test match per season and is considered one of Australia's fastest and bounciest pitches.
- AFL matches: Catch the Brisbane Lions in action during the AFL season from March to September.
- 2032 Olympics: The stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics events.
History
Cricket has been played at the Gabba since 1895. The ground was completely redeveloped in the 1990s for the modern era and hosted memorable moments including the famous 2021 Ashes Test where Australia reclaimed the urn.
