The National Archaeological Museum (Muzeu Arkeologjik Kombëtar) showcases artefacts from Albania's rich archaeological heritage, spanning from the Neolithic period through Illyrian, Greek, Roman, and Byzantine civilizations. It occupies a modern building near Skanderbeg Square.
The museum was originally founded in 1948 as part of the National History Museum. It was established as a separate institution to better showcase Albania's archaeological wealth, which includes artefacts from UNESCO-listed sites like Butrint.
