Overview
The Fiordo di Furore is a dramatic fjord-like inlet between Praiano and Conca dei Marini, where a narrow gorge opens onto a tiny pebble beach flanked by 30-metre cliffs.
Highlights
- Cliff bridge: the arched road bridge above the fjord is an iconic photo spot.
- Hidden beach: a small pebble strand at the mouth of the gorge.
- Annual cliff-diving competition: the Mediterranean Cup high-diving event takes place here each summer.
History
The fjord was created by the Schiato torrent cutting through limestone. The village of Furore above was historically so isolated it was known as the town that doesn't exist.
