Overview
The SS163 Amalfitana is the legendary coastal road threading along the cliffs between Vietri sul Mare and Positano, widely considered one of the most beautiful drives on Earth.

History
Built between 1832 and 1850 under King Ferdinand II, replacing a network of mule tracks. UNESCO inscribed the Amalfi Coast as a World Heritage Site in 1997.
Visitor Tips
- Drive or bus: SITA buses run the full route; driving gives flexibility but parking is scarce.
- Direction: east-to-west (Salerno to Positano) for right-hand-side views.
- Duration: 1.5-2.5 hours without stops.
