University College Cork (UCC) is one of Ireland's oldest universities, founded in 1845 as Queen's College Cork. The campus blends historic quadrangles with modern facilities along the banks of the River Lee.
Established as one of three Queen's Colleges in Ireland, UCC opened in 1849 with 115 students. The Main Quad was designed by Sir Thomas Deane. The university has grown to over 22,000 students and was named Irish University of the Year multiple times.
