The Butter Museum tells the surprisingly rich story of Ireland's butter trade — once the country's most valuable export — housed in the Shandon Craft Centre, part of the original Cork Butter Exchange complex.
The Cork Butter Exchange, established in 1770, standardised the grading and export of Irish butter. By the mid-19th century it was the world's largest butter market. The museum opened in 1997 in the Exchange's former buildings.
