Overview
The Lighthouse is Scotland's Centre for Design and Architecture, housed in Charles Rennie Mackintosh's first public building — the former Glasgow Herald newspaper offices. The building includes a Mackintosh interpretation centre and a rooftop viewing platform.

History
Designed in 1893 as the Glasgow Herald building, it was Mackintosh's first major commission. The building was converted into the Lighthouse design centre in 1999 as part of Glasgow's year as UK City of Architecture and Design.
