Glasgow Green is the city's oldest park, established in the 15th century along the north bank of the Clyde. It has played a central role in Glasgow's social and political history for over 600 years.
Granted to the people of Glasgow by King James II in 1450, the park has witnessed Chartist rallies, suffragette meetings, and modern demonstrations. James Watt is said to have conceived his steam engine improvements while walking here.
