Ondarreta Beach

Overview

Ondarreta is the most westerly of San Sebastián's three main beaches, sitting between the Miramar Palace and the Peine del Viento sculptures. It offers a quieter, more family-friendly atmosphere than La Concha while sharing the same bay.

• Family-Friendly: Shallower and calmer than Zurriola, with good facilities.
• Proximity to Peine del Viento: The sculptures are a short walk from the western end.

History

Ondarreta was developed as a residential beach in the early 20th century when wealthy families built summer villas in the Antiguo neighbourhood. It retains a more residential, less touristy feel than La Concha.

• Facilities: Showers, changing rooms, and lifeguards in summer.
• Parking: Easier to find nearby compared to La Concha.
• Duration: 1–2 hours.
