The Cathedral of the Good Shepherd is San Sebastián's largest religious building, rising prominently in the city centre with a 75-metre neo-Gothic spire visible from across the bay. Built in the late 19th century, it serves as the principal church of the Diocese of San Sebastián.
Designed by architect Manuel de Echave and built between 1888 and 1897, the cathedral was financed largely by public donations. Its construction coincided with San Sebastián's golden age as a royal summer resort.
