Playa de Palma

Overview

Platja de Palma is a sweeping 6-kilometre arc of fine white sand stretching from Can Pastilla to S'Arenal along the southern edge of the Bay of Palma. Backed by a cycling promenade and dotted with chiringuitos, it is the city's principal beach.

History

The Platja de Palma area developed as a tourist destination in the 1960s with the mass-tourism boom. Recent urban-renewal projects have upgraded the promenade, added green spaces, and improved water quality.

Visitor Tips

• Best between Balnearios 4-8: Less crowded and better maintained than the S'Arenal end.
• Take bus 25: Direct service from Palma centre, every 15 minutes.
• Duration: 2–4 hours.
