Overview
The Bay of Palma cycling route is a flat, scenic waterfront path that runs from the Passeig Marítim near the cathedral all the way east to Platja de Palma and S'Arenal — roughly 12 km of uninterrupted cycling along the seafront.
Highlights
- Separated Bike Lane: A smooth, well-maintained path separated from traffic for its entire length.
- Portixol & Molinar: The route passes through Palma's most charming fishing-village neighbourhoods.
- Beach Access: Stop at any point along Platja de Palma for a swim.
History
The cycling infrastructure along the bay was expanded and improved as part of Palma's 2010s urban-mobility plan, which aimed to reduce car dependency and promote sustainable tourism.
Visitor Tips
- Rent from the centre: Multiple bike-hire shops operate near the Passeig Marítim.
- Best in the morning: Avoid midday heat in summer; the route is fully exposed.
- Duration: 1–1.5 hours (one way, with stops).
