Overview
Playa de la Misericordia is a long, wide sandy beach stretching west from the Guadalhorce river mouth. Less touristy than La Malagueta, it is popular with Malagueños for its spacious feel, espeto barbecues, and cycle path.
Highlights
- Espeto tradition: Sardine skewers grilled over driftwood fires at beachfront chiringuitos.
- Paseo Marítimo: A cycling and walking path runs the entire length of the beach.
- Space: Much less crowded than central beaches, even in peak summer.
History
Historically a working-class fishing shore, the beach was upgraded with new chiringuitos, promenades, and services in the 2010s.
