Zorrotzaurre is a former industrial peninsula on the Nervión being reimagined as Bilbao's creative and innovation district. With street art, converted warehouses, and waterfront paths, it offers a raw, evolving counterpoint to the polished Guggenheim area.
Once a thriving shipbuilding and industrial area, Zorrotzaurre declined through the 1980s. In 2004, Zaha Hadid was commissioned to create a master plan transforming the peninsula into a mixed-use island district. Construction is ongoing, blending old industrial fabric with new architecture.
