Overview
Stapelbäddsparken is a world-class public skate park built in one of the old Kockums shipyard dry docks in Västra Hamnen. Designed with input from local skaters, it attracts riders from across Europe.
Highlights
- Dry dock setting: The concrete bowls and ramps are built into a genuine shipyard dry dock, giving the park a raw industrial character.
- International caliber: The park has hosted professional skateboarding competitions and is considered one of Sweden's best.
- Free and open: No tickets, no fences — the park is open 24/7.
History
The skate park opened in 2005 as part of the ongoing transformation of Västra Hamnen. It was designed by Bryggeriets Gymnasium and Stefan Hauser, working closely with the local skating community to create a park that meets professional competition standards.
Visitor Tips
- Tip 1: Best visited in the afternoon when more skaters are active.
- Tip 2: Even non-skaters enjoy watching from the dock edge — it's a great spectator spot.
- Duration: 30–60 minutes.
