Folkets Park in Malmö, established in 1891, is the world's oldest "people's park" — a Swedish concept designed to provide free recreation for the working class. Today it features event stages, a playground, mini-golf, and a reptile house.
Folkets Park was established in 1891 by Malmö's labor movement as an alternative to bourgeois parks with entry fees. The concept spread across Sweden and to other Nordic countries. The Moorish Pavilion (Moriskan) was added in 1902.
