History
Linnéstaden developed in the late 19th century as Gothenburg expanded south. Its grid of streets was planned in the 1860s and quickly filled with the landshövdinge houses typical of the city. The area gentrified in the 1990s–2000s and is now one of Gothenburg's most desirable addresses.
Visitor Tips
- Tip 1: Andra Långgatan ("Second Long Street") is the more alternative, bar-heavy strip; Linnégatan is the upscale dining street.
