Fjellveien Promenade

Overview

Fjellveien is a scenic hillside walkway that follows the contour of the mountains above Bergen at roughly 80 metres altitude. Stretching about 3 km, it offers continuous panoramic views of the city, harbour, and surrounding mountains without any steep climbs.

History

Fjellveien was constructed in the 1890s as a scenic promenade for Bergen's citizens. It was part of a broader Romantic-era effort to make the city's surrounding mountains accessible for leisure walking.

• Access: Enter from Skansen (near the Fløibanen lower station) or from Møllendal at the other end.
• Flat and easy: Suitable for all fitness levels.
• Duration: 45–75 minutes one way.
