Overview
The 62-metre tower of the Laurenskerk is one of the few elevated viewpoints in Rotterdam's flat centre, offering sweeping views over the Markthal, Cube Houses, Erasmus Bridge, and the city skyline.
Highlights
- Staircase Climb: 297 steps to the top through the narrow medieval tower.
- Bell Chamber: See the church bells up close midway during the climb.
- 360° Panorama: From the outdoor gallery, views stretch across the entire city centre and harbour.
History
The tower survived the 1940 bombing that destroyed the Laurenskerk interior. It was restored alongside the church and reopened for climbing in the early 2000s.
Visitor Tips
- Tip 1: The climb is narrow and steep — not suitable for those with mobility issues.
- Tip 2: Go on a clear day for views reaching to the Europoort and Hook of Holland.
- Duration: 20–30 minutes.
