Overview
Veronetta is the vibrant university quarter east of the Adige, known for its multicultural atmosphere, independent shops, and lively student scene. Its name, meaning "little Verona," belies a neighborhood full of historic churches and quiet courtyards.
Highlights
- Multicultural Identity: International food shops, craft breweries, and vintage stores give the neighborhood a distinctly cosmopolitan feel.
- Historic Churches: Santa Maria in Organo (with Fra Giovanni's wooden choir stalls) and San Nazaro e Celso add artistic depth.
- Giardino Giusti Access: The famous Renaissance garden is located within this neighborhood.
History
Historically, Veronetta was a separate walled settlement across the Adige. It became part of the university district when the University of Verona expanded here. Today it blends student energy with immigrant communities from Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe.
