The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Matricolare, Verona's Duomo, is a layered structure blending Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Inside, Titian's Assumption of the Virgin (1535) anchors the first chapel on the left.
A cathedral has occupied this site since the 4th century. The current Romanesque structure dates to 1139, with Gothic additions in the 15th century and a Renaissance interior remodel. The building complex includes the baptistery, cloister, and chapter library.
