The Castello del Valentino is a 17th-century Savoy residence on the bank of the Po, distinguished by its French-influenced design with mansard roofs and corner pavilions. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it now houses the Architecture Faculty of the Politecnico di Torino.
The original structure dates to the 16th century. Between 1633 and 1660, Christine Marie of France — wife of Duke Vittorio Amedeo I — had it redesigned in the style of a French château. It served as a Savoy summer residence before becoming a military engineering school and, eventually, the Polytechnic's faculty of architecture.
