Il Capo is a vibrant open-air market threaded through the narrow streets behind Teatro Massimo. Less touristy than Ballarò, it is where many Palermitans do their daily shopping, offering an authentic slice of local life.

History

The Capo quarter was one of Palermo's four historic mandamenti (quarters). Its market has served the neighbourhood since the Middle Ages, and it retains a genuinely local character.
