The Foro Italico (also called Foro Umberto I) is a long green promenade stretching along Palermo's seafront south of La Cala. It offers open spaces, playgrounds, and uninterrupted views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The promenade was created in the 16th century as a defensive embankment. Destroyed in the 1943 bombings, it was rebuilt as a public park in the 1990s and has become one of Palermo's most popular leisure spaces.
