The Museo Civico Belliniano is a small but moving museum housed in the apartment where Vincenzo Bellini was born on 3 November 1801. It preserves the composer's personal effects, manuscripts, letters, and the harpsichord on which he learned to play as a child prodigy.
Bellini was born in this first-floor apartment in Piazza San Francesco d'Assisi in 1801. After his death in 1835, the city gradually acquired the apartment and his personal effects. The museum was formally established in 1930 and has been expanded with donations from Bellini's descendants.
