The Zagreb Funicular (Zagrebačka uspinjača) is one of the shortest funicular railways in the world, covering just 66 metres in 55 seconds. It connects the Lower Town's Ilica Street with the Upper Town's Strossmayer Promenade.
Built in 1890 and electrified in 1934, the funicular has been continuously operating for over 135 years. It was designed to connect the commercial Lower Town with the administrative Upper Town and remains a functional part of Zagreb's transit system.
