Lotrščak Tower is a 13th-century fortification perched on the southern edge of Gornji Grad. Each day at noon, a cannon fires from its window — a tradition since 1877 — making it one of Zagreb's most distinctive auditory landmarks.
Erected around 1266 as part of the Gradec fortifications, the tower protected the southern entrance to the free royal city. The cannon was originally used to synchronize church bells across Zagreb and has continued firing (except during wartime) for nearly 150 years.
