The Bell Tower of the Cathedral of Saint Domnius rises 57 metres above the Peristyle, offering the most spectacular panoramic view of Split. The Romanesque-Gothic tower was built over four centuries and provides a 360-degree vista of the palace, the harbor, and the islands.
Construction began in the 13th century as a free-standing campanile. Work continued sporadically over the following centuries, with the tower reaching its final form in the 16th century. Major restoration occurred between 1882 and 1908.
