Oia is a picture-perfect village perched on the northern rim of the Santorini caldera, famous worldwide for its blue-domed churches, whitewashed cave houses, and labyrinthine marble-paved streets. It is the most photographed settlement on the island and a UNESCO candidate site.
Oia was historically the wealthiest settlement on Santorini, enriched by its merchant fleet that dominated Aegean trade in the 19th century. The devastating 1956 earthquake destroyed much of the village, but meticulous restoration has transformed it into one of Greece's premier destinations while preserving its traditional Cycladic architecture.
