The Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent is the largest Ottoman mosque in Rhodes's Old Town, built to celebrate the Ottoman conquest of 1522. Its pink-stone minaret is one of the most recognisable landmarks of the historical skyline.
Built in 1522 by Suleiman the Magnificent after his forces conquered Rhodes from the Knights of St John following a six-month siege. The current structure dates largely from an 1808 reconstruction. The mosque has been closed to worshippers since the Greek era.
