Lindos Beach (Megalos Gialos) is a sheltered sandy beach stretching beneath the whitewashed village and acropolis of Lindos. Its warm, shallow water and scenic backdrop make it one of the most photographed beaches in Greece.
The bay below Lindos has sheltered boats and bathers since antiquity. As Lindos developed into a major tourist destination in the 1970s–80s, the beach became the island's most visited, though it retains charm thanks to the spectacular backdrop.
