The Dresden Schwebebahn (Suspension Railway) is the world's oldest still-operating suspension railway, running since 1901. The 274-meter track climbs from Loschwitz to the hilltop Oberloschwitz station at an incline of up to 40%, offering spectacular Elbe valley views.
Designed by Eugen Langen (co-inventor of the Wuppertal Schwebebahn), the Dresden suspension railway was the second of its kind. It has operated almost continuously since 1901, with interruptions only during the World Wars.
