The Largo is a large-scale architectural ensemble of three monumental Socialist Classicist buildings constructed in the 1950s in central Sofia. The ensemble includes the former Communist Party headquarters (now housing government offices), the TZUM department store, and the Council of Ministers building.
Built between 1952 and 1956, the Largo replaced an older neighbourhood destroyed by Allied bombing in 1944. The ensemble was designed to project Soviet power and ideology, emulating similar developments in Moscow and other Eastern Bloc capitals.
