The area informally known as Sofia's creative quarter occupies the streets near the Women's Market and Lion's Bridge. What was once a rough neighbourhood is being transformed by artists, galleries, and independent businesses into a bohemian cultural hub.
Historically a working-class area with Ottoman-era street patterns, the neighbourhood fell into disrepair after 1989. In the 2010s, artists and entrepreneurs began moving in, attracted by low rents and atmospheric old buildings—a process that continues today.
