Sint-Pietersabdij (St Peter's Abbey) is one of the oldest abbeys in Flanders, founded in the 7th century. The sprawling complex includes Baroque buildings, a herb garden, vineyard, and art exhibition spaces set around tranquil cloistered courtyards.
Founded around 630 AD by St Amand, it was one of the most powerful Benedictine abbeys in Flanders. The current buildings are largely Baroque (17th–18th century). After secularization under Napoleon, it served as a barracks before becoming a cultural centre.
