Swarovski Crystal Worlds

Overview

Swarovski Crystal Worlds (Kristallwelten) in Wattens, 15 km east of Innsbruck, is an immersive art and entertainment experience built around the Swarovski crystal brand. The complex features 18 underground 'Chambers of Wonder' where international artists have created crystal-inspired installations.

Highlights

• The Giant: A grass-covered face with crystal eyes and a waterfall mouth guards the entrance.
• Chambers of Wonder: 18 underground installations by artists including Yayoi Kusama, Lee Bul, and Studio Job.
• Crystal Cloud: An outdoor hanging sculpture made of 800,000 hand-set crystals floating above a play area.

History

Created in 1995 by André Heller to celebrate Swarovski's 100th anniversary. Major expansions in 2015 added new chambers, a restaurant, and the Crystal Cloud. The site attracts over 600,000 visitors annually.

Visitor Tips

• Shuttle bus runs regularly from Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof.
• Allow 2 hours — the chambers are extensive.
• Duration: 1.5–2 hours.
